​Great family fun planned for Tiverton Winterfest, Feb. 14-16

The annual Tiverton Winterfest celebration is offering plenty of great family fun, Feb. 14-16, in the village.

The event opens Friday evening, with a Family Games Night, from 5-8 p.m., at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre. Enjoy hot dogs and snacks (for purchase), face-painting and crafts.

Saturday morning is the Firefighter Pancake Breakfast, from 8-11 a.m., hosted by the Tiverton Fire Association. Cost is by donation.

Other Saturday event include:
 

• The Tiverton Thunder Road Hockey Tournament at 10 a.m., in the parking lot beside the Annex.
• Dog Sled Rides, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the ball diamonds beside the Lions Hall.
• Story Time, from 11 a.m. to Noon, at the Tiverton Library.
• Snow Sculpture Contest – sculpting can begin anytime after Feb. 10, with judging taking place Saturday at Noon; hosted by the Tiverton Lions Club
• Free hot dogs and hot chocolate at the Lions Hall, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Progressive Euchre Tournament at 1 p.m., in the Knox Presbyterian Church basement. Cost is $5 per player.
• Cornhole Tournament, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre. Entry fee is $50 per team of two.
• Port Elgin Lions Club Mega TV Bingo, from 5-10:30 p.m., at the Lions Hall. Tickets are $30 each.. Contact Lion Guy Martin at 519-368-7871, to purchase your tickets in advance.

Sunday morning, is the annual Winterfest Worship Service and Chili Luncheon at Knox Presbyterian Church, beginning at 10 a.m., with luncheon following at 11:30 a.m.

The Family Skating Party runs Sunday at the Tiverton Sports Centre featuring:
 

• Public Skating, from Noon to 1 p.m.
• Face-painting, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Free hot dogs and hot chocolate, from Noon to 2 p.m.

There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, Sunday, from 1-5 p.m. beside the Whitney Crawford Community Centre, as well as hot chocolate and cookies.

And Winterfest wraps up with the Tiverton Agricultural Society Spaghetti Dinner at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre, from 5-7 p.m. Cost is $20 each for adults, $15 each for seniors and students, and free for children, age 10 and under.
