Kincardine holding public meeting on Development Charges for 9/21 business park

The Municipality of Kincardine is holding a public meeting, Feb. 26, at 5 p.m., in the council chamber, regarding proposed Area-Specific Development Charges rates and policies for the Highways 9 and 21 (9/21) Business Park lands.

Development Charges are levied against new development, and are a primary source of funding for growth-related capital expenditures.

The 2025 Area-Specific Development Charges background study for the 9/21 Business Park lands, relates to the provision of area-specific services within the area, such as storm water, sanitary sewer, watermains, services related to a highway (roads and related infrastructure), and additional internal site costs.

The public meeting will allow people the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2025 Area-Specific Development Charges background study, related staff reports and the proposed Development Charges bylaw.

All interested parties are invited to attend the public meeting.

Any person may attend the public meeting and make written or verbal representation either in support of, or in opposition to, the bylaw. Written submissions are invited and should be directed to Jennifer Lawrie, Clerk no later than 4:30 p.m., Feb. 19. Written comments received prior to the meeting and submissions made at the public meeting, will be considered by council prior to the enactment of a new Development Charges bylaw.

A copy of the background study is available on the municipality’s Development Charges web page. A copy of the Development Charges bylaw will be made available on the municipality’s website two weeks before the public meeting.
