Perhaps it’s lost in a three-metre-high snowbank, but once again, the Ace of Spades was not found, and the Catch the Ace jackpot continues to grow. Jody Van de Klippe won $3,994 in this week’s draw. She chose Envelope No. 4 which contained the Queen of Diamonds. Ticket sales are really snowballing(!) now, as the jackpot grows. Next week, it will likely surpass $88,000. We are halfway through the deck now, with 26 envelopes opened.

At the Saturday Meat Draw, Steve Bell and Mike Elliott were both double-dippers. Mary Farrell won one of the meat draws and then won the 50/50 draw, taking home $176. Congratulations to all the winners!

This week, Branch 183 presented a big cheque to the Kincardine Sunset Quilters’ Guild. This donation of $1,000 will help the organization with supplies toward completing quilts that are donated to local charities. Mary Coates let us know that this money will help them to provide quilts to Oncology and Adolescent Psychiatric units at the Owen Sound Hospital, to Project Linus, the NICU in London and QuiltCan which deals with pediatric cancer. The photo is quite wide, so we could include some of the amazing quilts. They are all beautiful! You can read more about the quilters’ guild here: kincardinesunsetqu.wixsite.com/ksqg.

Here is a little update on our Legion dart players. Representing Branch 183 last week at District Darts in Elora, were Steve Musselman, Derek Farr, Dan VanDerVeeken and Dawn Senior. Steve and Dan played in the single matches, and both played well but did not advance past the round-robin portion. In doubles play, Dan and Derek unfortunately did not advance to the playoff round. Dawn and Steve competed in a three-team tie-breaker match but in the end, were knocked out of further doubles competition.

In team play, our team advanced from the round-robin stage through the quarter-finals, then to the semi-finals, and on to the finals! The final match was a two-out-of-three knock-out format. Team Branch 183 won FIRST PLACE in the District C competition, marking its best performance, to date. The team will now advance to the provincial competition in London, Saturday, April 5. Thank you for representing our branch, and we wish the team the best of luck at the next competition!
