James Scongack named co-chairman of Ontario Business and Trade Leadership Coalition
The Ontario Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of two distinguished leaders as co-chairmen of its Ontario Business and Trade Leadership Coalition: James Scongack, chief operating officer and executive vice-president of operational services at Bruce Power, and Chris Conway, chief executive officer (CEO) of Food and Beverage Ontario.

Established in January, the coalition unites leaders from key trade-dependent sectors to champion business-driven solutions, advocate for effective government policies, and solidify Ontario’s position as a global leader in trade.

“The Ontario chamber is excited to welcome leaders with complementary expertise as co-chairmen of this incredibly diverse coalition,” said president and CEO Daniel Tisch. “Their leadership will help Ontario business and our government partners navigate the immediate threats of United States (U.S.) tariffs and rising protectionism, and develop long-term strategies to improve our economic competitiveness and resilience.”

Tisch, Conway and Scongack made the announcement in Washington, D.C., where they are part of a delegation of business leaders supporting Ontario’s U.S. advocacy.

Scongack brings a wealth of experience in the energy sector, having played a pivotal role in advancing Bruce Power’s strategic initiatives and sustainability efforts. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in driving innovation and operational excellence within the organization.

Conway, a seasoned executive in the food and beverage industry, has been a strong advocate for the sector’s growth and development. Under his leadership, Food and Beverage Ontario has championed numerous initiatives to support the industry’s competitiveness and sustainability.

“I am honoured to co-chair the business and trade leadership coalition, and look forward to working with our members to identify solutions that will strengthen Ontario businesses’ global competitiveness,” said Scongack. “Together, we can create a more sustainable and prosperous future for all.”

“It is a privilege to serve as co-chair of the coalition,” said Conway. “I am committed to supporting our diverse business community as we build consensus on how Ontario can seize new opportunities. Collaboration and innovation will be keys to our success.”

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce is the indispensable partner of business, and Canada’s largest, most influential provincial chamber. It is an independent, non-profit advocacy and member services organization representing a diverse network of 60,000 members.

The chamber convenes, mobilizes and empowers business and local chambers in pursuit of its purpose: to bring inclusive and sustainable prosperity to Ontario’s businesses, workers, and communities.
