Alan “Rory” Boyer of Kincardine died, surrounded by the love and support of his family, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the age of 72.
Beloved husband of Nancy Boyer (nee Corley).
Loving father of his three sons, Trevor (Jaye), Gregory (Emilija), and Jason (Trista).
Proud and cherished grandfather of Colton, Jackson, Adelyn, Emerson, Stella and Lucy.
Remembered by his siblings, Kathy Oakes (the late Garry), William (Linda), Dan (Donna), Craig (Tracy), Susan Best (Keith), Tim (Louise), and Janice Thevenot (the late Andre); and brothers-in-law, Ron and Richard (Donna).
Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Constance (nee Petersen) and William Boyer.
Rory was born Feb. 19, 1953, in Pine Falls but grew up in Great Falls, Manitoba. He eventually went on to attend the University of Manitoba and spent his summers as an electrician apprentice with Manitoba Hydro.
In 1974, he married Nancy Corley, and they began their life's journey with a move to Ontario, choosing to raise their family in Kincardine.
Rory enjoyed golfing, wood-carving, curling, and spending time with his family. This man, with his great sense of humour, touched the lives of many on his journey. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
He was also known for his strong work ethic. His career started in 1979 in Deep River, where he worked with Ontario Hydro as an electrical engineer. During the next 32 years, he progressed from a licensed shift manager to retiring as an outage execution manager with Bruce Power.
The family thanks the staff at Trillium Court Seniors’ Community in Kincardine, Rory's home for the past seven years. We are grateful to the team at the Kincardine Hospital for ensuring Rory's final days were comfortable and peaceful.
The family is also deeply appreciative of the compassion and support of our family, friends and Rory’s health-care providers during his 24-year journey with Parkinson's.
A Celebration of Rory's life will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Kincardine Curling Club, 277 Penetangore Row, Kincardine. Details to be shared closer to the date.
If so desired, donations in Rory's memory, to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation or Parkinson Canada Inc., would be appreciated; arrangements entrusted to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine;
