Highway 21 in Kincardine area closed Thursday, due to blowing and drifting snow
Winter blew in early Thursday morning (March 6), causing road closures and cancelling school buses in the Kincardine area.

At 8 a.m., the South Bruce OPP reported Highway 21 was closed, from Port Elgin to Southampton. Two hours later, the highway was closed, from Southampton all the way to Amberley, and eventually, to Goderich – all due to blowing and drifting snow and poor visibility.

Numerous Bruce County Roads were also closed, including Bruce County Road 23, from Lorne Beach Road to Bruce County Road 20, and Bruce County Road 7, from Ripley to Highway 9.

School buses were cancelled in Kincardine, Ripley, Lucknow and Walkerton, but the schools were open.

The Davidson Centre pool was closed and programs cancelled. The Tiverton Sports Centre was also closed and programs cancelled. There was a lane reduction on Victoria Street, between properties at 129 and 141, due to water on the road.

The Davidson Centre will open at 6 a.m., Friday (March 7), with programs and drop-in activities running as scheduled. The 6:15 a.m. lane swim is cancelled. The Tiverton Sports Centre will also re-open Friday.

As of Thursday, at 10 p.m., Highway 21, from Southampton to Amberley had been re-opened, as well as Bruce County Road 23, from Lorne Beach Road to Bruce County Road 15, and Bruce Conty Road 10, from Chesley to Highway 21.

Bruce County Road 23, from Bruce County Road 15 to Bruce County Road 20, remains closed due to heavy drifting.
