South Bruce OPP report break-in; two stunt-drivers; and impaired driver
BREAK-IN AT WALKERTON BUSINESS

(BROCKTON, ON) - March 2, at approximately 12:55 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a break-and-enter at a business property along Durham Street East, in Walkerton.

Officers responded to the location and observed glass had been smashed in order to gain entry.

About $25,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from the business. A witness reported two individuals were observed running from the scene before departing in a dark-coloured vehicle in the area of Durham Street East and Colborne Street South.

The suspects are described as (see photos below):
 
  • Suspect 1: Dark-coloured pants, black jacket with white stripes along sleeves, black balaclava, carrying orange-and-black grocery bag
  • Suspect 2: White pants, white jacket, grey toque and face covering, carrying white-and-black black grocery bag








Police encourage members of the public to report suspicious behaviour. Consider installing security cameras, additional lighting and/or alarms. If you already have security cameras, consider registering with the CAMSafe program at camsafe.ca.

STUNT-DRIVING CHARGE LAID IN SOUTH BRUCE

(MUNICIPALITY OF SOUTH BRUCE, ON) - March 9, a member of the South Bruce OPP was conducting stationary radar enforcement along Bruce County Road 3 in the Municipality of South Bruce.

At 1:27 p.m., the officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the posted 60 km/h zone, and a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old motorist of Mississauga was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
 
  • Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt, HTA 172(1)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle - Fail to display two plates, HTA 7(1)(b)(i)
  • Fail to surrender permit, HTA 7(5)(a)

Anyone charged with stunt-driving receives a 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day driver's licence suspension.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court - Walkerton, at a later date.

STUNT-DRIVER NABBED IN KINCARDINE

(MUNICIPALITY OF KINCARDINE, ON) - March 11, a member of the South Bruce OPP was conducting mobile radar enforcement along Highway 9 in the Municipality of Kincardine.

At 9:54 a.m., the officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the posted 80 km/h zone, and a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old motorist of Milton was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
 
  • Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt, HTA 172(1)
  • Speeding 50-plus km/h over posted limit, HTA 128

Anyone charged with stunt-driving receives a 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day driver's licence suspension.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court - Walkerton, at a later date.

IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED

(BROCKTON, ON) - March 5, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a member of the South Bruce OPP stopped to check a vehicle along Catherine Street, Municipality of Brockton.

The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the involved driver. The driver was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Roy KING, 25, of Brockton, was charged with:
 
  • Operation while Impaired - blood-alcohol concentration (80-plus), CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Operation while prohibited, CC 320.18(1)(a)
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Driving while under suspension, HTA 53(1) - two counts
  • Operate unsafe vehicle, HTA 84(1)
  • Use plate not authorized, HTA 12(1)(d)
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, CAIA 2(1)(a)

The accused was held in custody by police for a bail hearing and subsequently released, to re-appear at the Walkerton Court of Justice, April 2.
