​Huron-Kinloss remuneration up slightly in 2024
Huron-Kinloss Township taxpayers spent $191,816.54 on council remuneration for 2024, up slightly from the $189,535.15 paid in 2023.

Treasurer Christine Heinisch presented the report at the March 17 council meeting, outlining the total cost for council members’ salaries and per diems, plus expenses. The report also lists payments of $3,563 from the two conservation authorities to members of council, and $243.90 paid to members of the property standards committee.
 
  • Mayor Don Murray received a total of $41,022.86, including $39,094.36 in salary and per diems, and $1,928.50 in expenses
  • Deputy mayor Jim Hanna was paid $26,583.26, including $23,716.89 in salary and per diems, and $2,866.37 in expenses
  • Councillor Larry Allison received $27,559.67, including $25,160.14 in salary and per diems, and $2,399.53 in expenses
  • Councillor Shari Flett was paid $21,962.75, including $18,748.35 in salary and per diems, and $3,214.40 in expenses
  • Councillor Scott Gibson received $20,341.23, including $18,077.46 in salary and per diems, and $2,263.77 in expenses
  • Councillor Edward McGugan was paid $33,984.10, including $28,746.72 in salary and per diems, and $5,237.38 in expenses
  • Councillor Carl Sloetjes received $20,362.67, including $17,628.11 in salary and per diems, and $2,734.56 in expenses

Allison also received $2,441, including $1,830 in salary, and $611 in expenses for serving on the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), which is paid by the SVCA.

McGugan also received $1,122 in salary, for serving on the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA), paid by the MVCA.

The following received remuneration for serving on the property standards committee: Doug Aitchison, $93.20, including $75 in salary, and $18.20 in expenses; Audrey MacDonald, $75; and Sarah Martyn, $75.

Total remuneration for 2024 was $191,816.54, and the report was approved by council.
