Bruce County recognizes two outstanding community members with Coronation Medal
Bruce County has recognized two outstanding community members, Muriel Shular and Owen Riegling, as recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medal, at a special ceremony held in the county council chamber, Thursday (March 20).
Warden Luke Charbonneau presided over the event, highlighting the significance of the medal, which was created to mark His Majesty’s coronation and honour Canadians who have made exceptional contributions.
Shular, a dedicated volunteer at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, was recognized for her seven years of service and more than 700 volunteer hours, supporting children’s programs, special events, and community outreach.
Riegling of Mildmay, a rising star in Canadian country music, was honoured for his remarkable achievements in the music industry, including winning multiple Canadian Country Music Association awards and earning a Juno Award nomination for Breakout Artist of the Year in 2025.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson joined Charbonneau in presenting the medals to the recipients.
The county also presented certificates of recognition to Shular and Riegling, celebrating their contributions to the community.
“Muriel (Shular) and Owen (Riegling) embody the spirit of service and excellence that makes Bruce County so special,” said Charbonneau. “Her dedication to preserving and sharing our local history, and his incredible success in Canadian country music, are both inspiring examples of the impact our residents have, locally and beyond. It is an honour to recognize them today.”
