Local authors to visit Bruce County Public Library branches in April and May
With Canadian Children's Book Week approaching, the Bruce County Public Library welcomes the public to join in celebrating Canadian talent with special author events taking place in April and May at various branches.
Occurring the week of April 21, this is a national celebration of books and reading, bringing authors, illustrators, and storytellers to communities across Canada. What better way to recognize our incredible local authors then by showcasing them at our local libraries?
These authors will visit regularly-scheduled Story Times, a popular drop-in program designed for preschool-aged children.
Here is the schedule:
- Tuesday, April 29, at 11 a.m. - Dorothy Ladd at the Wiarton branch
Wednesday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m. - Elizabeth Davaze at the Kincardine branch
- Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. - Jenny Lee Learn at the Sauble Beach branch
- Tuesday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. - Catherine Swartz at the Port Elgin branch
Additionally, the Mildmay branch will welcome Doug Archer to the After School Program for Grades 1-6, Tuesday, April 29, at 3:30 p.m.. Children must be registered on-line for this special program.
The public library will also be hosting some special events for the adults, with Michelle Unsworth-Foote, author of “How to Get Your Sh*t Together (so your loved ones don't have to do it for you),” visiting the Sauble Beach branch, Wednesday, April 16, at 2 p.m., and then the Wiarton branch, at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be provided at both events.
Bonnie Sitter, author of "Onion Skins and Peach Fuzz: Memories of Ontario Farmerettes," will be presenting photos and information about her books and her upcoming film, "We Lend a Hand," at the Teeswater Town Hall, Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. This event is in partnership with the Teeswater Agricultural Society, which will be providing refreshments, and the Municipality of South Bruce, which generously provided the hall.
Books will be available for purchase (cash only).
Be sure to take advantage of the public library’s new
on-line events calendar and registration forms to secure your spot today! All events are free to attend.
