Full STEAM ahead at the 2025 Huron Heights Science Fair

More than 200 students in Grades 4-6 participated in the Huron Heights Public School Science Fair, March 4.

Projects were completed in the STEAM topics of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics, and focused on exceptional experiments, solid studies, and innovative inventions to solve problems faced in our everyday lives.

During this science fair, 40 students entered the school competition where individuals would be selected to represent Huron Heights at the 2025 Junior Bluewater Regional Science and Technology Fair, which is taking place at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound, Wednesday, April 9.

From this competition, 16 projects were selected to advance to the regional science fair, including:

• “Dwayne the Rock Candy” by Lily Atkinson and Jack Wright
• “Can Water Solve a Maze?” by Maeve Bradley
• “Keep Calm and Chew On” by Prestyn Osborne-Nickel
• “Battle of the Sports Drinks” by Mason Davis
• “Fish of Lake Huron” by Madison Young
• “Strong Bridges” by Mason Ibbitson
• “Automatic Goat Feeder” by Clare O’Handley
• “How Sweet It is (Sugar Drinks)” by Elsie McCrae
• “Fire and Ice” by Callen Adams
• “Vertical Farming” by Ashton Blackwood
• “Comparing Photosynthesis and Chlorophyll” by Claire Bradley
• “Does Music Affect Plant Growth” by Mason McLean
• “The Great Garbage Grow-Off” by Robin Moffatt
