Congratulations to the Ripley Curling Club hosting its 60th Anniversary Celebration last weekend at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre! After a delicious lasagna dinner and some brief speeches by secretary Jackie Nesbitt and president Jason Murray, recognizing some of the outstanding curlers and executive, everyone got into the swing of things with some great music by Local Anesthesia and then Adam Cousins. It seems as if it has been a long time since we've had some real dancing music and quite a few were on the floor showing their moves! A great evening with good company and great music!

Also, congratulations to the organizers of the Kincardine Health and Wellness Fair which ran last weekend! There's always something to learn and adopt a healthier lifestyle for ourselves and family members.

We extend our sympathy to the families of Ron Alton of Lucknow, Manuel Seillern and Dr. Art Wiebe of Kincardine and others in our community. We especially remember Sheila Smart (Osborne) of Meaford and her extensive involvement and love for her community and family. May you cherish
all the memories you have of these special people.

And there are a few folks who have celebrated their birthdays recently. Happy Birthday to Ashlee Wray, Morgan Roberts, Colban Liddle, Cheryl Bridge, Karen Elliott, Sheila Pike, Tyson VandeSype, Don Simpson and Tyler Rombouts! Hope you all had a fantastic day! Happy 60th Birthday
to Duncan Simpson too!

Rose-Marie Meyer, Wayne Koch, Fran Bednarz, Gail Lotton, Dianne Simpson, Gail Vander Hoek and Joan McLaughlin, representing the Ripley and District Horticultural Society, attended the District 8 Ontario Horticultural Association annual general meeting in Hensall, Saturday. Joan was installed as Assistant District Director for Bruce County. Guest speakers included Janneke Vorsteveld, "Weaving and Rooting Community Through the Land;" and Kevin Hulley, "Edible Gardens." Winners in the District 8 Photography Show included stunning photographs entered by Fran Farrell and Christine Roberts. Everyone enjoyed the day to mix and mingle with other horticultural society members from Bruce, Huron and Grey counties, do some shopping at the vendors' tables and view the numerous entries in the poster, photography and flower classes.

Visiting this week with Roxanne and Wray Thompson for supper, was Mary Anne Kukoly.

Welcome back to all our "snowbirds" from the south!

Saturday evening, we got to observe the Pink Full Moon of April, thanks to a beautiful sunny day Ap

Of course, we all want to get busy outside, but it's best to leave stuff for the bugs and pollinator insects to eat. Earth Day is coming up April 22, so think about all the stuff we use and choose to reduce our garbage that can't be reused, recycled, repaired, re-homed, or re-purposed. The less we send to landfill, the longer life those facilities will have. There are upcoming hazardous waste days being hosted in our communities too, please take advantage of them even if the line up is long!

The Ripley and District Horticultural Society meets Wednesday, April 16, at 1:30 p.m., at the Ripley-Huron Legion. We look forward to a presentation by Starseed Acres, Lauren & Kevin Voisin, of Walkerton. Bring your mug.

The Bruce Federation of Agriculture is hosting an all-candidates meeting at the Teeswater Town Hall, Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Purple Grove Women’s Institute Annual Meeting is Thursday at 7 p.m. at the home of Dianne Simpson.

Have a great week everyone and Happy Easter!
