Conservative Ben Lobb re-elected for sixth term as Huron-Bruce MP
Preliminary results showed a Liberal minority government in Monday night’s federal election, but in Huron-Bruce, it was Conservative blue, as incumbent Ben Lobb was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for this riding.
“It’s an honour to have been elected for a sixth time to represent the people of Huron-Bruce,” said Lobb. “Thank you to my campaign team and dedicated volunteers for your tireless work over these last weeks, and above all, thank you to my wife, Samantha, and my boys, Cal and Caden, for your support.”
As of 11 p.m. Monday, with 120 of 259 polls reporting, Lobb was declared the winner with 14,646 votes or 56.4 per cent of the vote. In second, was Liberal James Rice with 9,808 votes (37.8 per cent), followed by Melanie Burrett of the New Democratic Party with 950 votes (3.7 per cent), Gregory McLean of the Green Party with 369 votes (1.4 per cent), Independent Justin Smith with 116 votes (0.4 per cent), and Independent Caesar Salad Pella with 78 votes (0.3 per cent).
