A special thank you to outgoing president Jim McDonald for all the hard work he has put in, as well as to other outgoing executive members, including Al Bowers, Russ Crook, Robert Grey, and Robert Fletcher, who have all put in so many hours to help the Legion, our veterans and our community.
Catch the Ace is back! Hopefully, everyone is aware we start the next round of the Catch the Ace progressive lottery next Wednesday, May 7, and that tickets are already on sale. In this round, we’ll continue to showcase some media, featuring our Catch the Ace MC Russ, and this round the theme will be "Russ in the Movies.”
Each week, we’ll post an image or video of Russ inserted into a famous film on our Catch the Ace Facebook page, and shared to our Branch 183 page. Try to guess the movie! We ask that you comment "Got it!" (or simply Like the post) if you recognize it - but please don’t post the movie title in the comments, so others can guess too. We’ll reveal the answer the next day, in case you didn’t get it.
Just a little weekly fun as we promote the draws and build the jackpot for this round. No, we won’t be doing any James Bond movies — Russ has already been a Secret Agent! We will continue to go LIVE for each week's draw, Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
At the
Saturday Meat Draw, we had Scott Allen as the triple-dipper, and James White as the double-dipper ... maybe let some other people win next time, Scott and James! Congratulations to you both. The 50/50 draw winner was Charlie Samms who took home a cash prize of $141. This weekend is the Mega Meat Draw, Saturday, May 3. There will be lots of good food and Hwy 19 is providing the entertainment, so plan to attend.
At Friday’s
Trivia Night, there was a three-way tie for first place. Congratulations to Team ‘McLeod and Clear,’ Team ‘Ode to Jody,’ and Team ‘Never 51.’ Thanks to everyone who filled the hall for a great night. The next Trivia Night will be Friday, May 23, and remember we do sell out, so get your team registered when sign-up opens up.
Friday’s Trivia Night saw a three-way tie for the win; all three teams gather for a photo at the end of the night
Thursday Night Bingo and Burgers is back, as of May 1. Purchase a tasty burger to fill your stomach and give you energy to try and win that $1,000 Bingo jackpot.
In
Darts news, the mixed doubles team of Jackie Tomajko and Steve Musselman played well but just missed out on making the playoff round at the tournament last weekend at the Clinton Legion, Branch 140. The mixed team of Jackie Tomajko, Steve Musselman, Dawn Senior and Paul Lajeunesse also played well but fell short of making the playoffs. The players noticed the quality of skilled mixed players has increased significantly in the recent seasons. This concludes the season of Legion darts. Our team is looking forward to representing Branch 183 in the coming season, and sent thanks to the Legion executive and members for their continued support.
