Purple Grove news
It's been a little quieter in Purple Grove these past couple of weeks, but as it warms up, the farm machinery will be out on the road in earnest. A well-used weather prediction, "Late Easter, late spring," is possibly more reliable than Wiarton Willie. Nevertheless, the taps have been pulled in the sugar bush, spring is here and coming on fast, and the fishing season has started!

Carman and Cheryl Bridge enjoyed having their three grandsons visiting last weekend.

Ken, Agnes, Shane and Neil Logtenberg visited with Jim and Fran Farrell last week as well.

A very Happy 98th Birthday, to Audrey Ferguson, May 4. She celebrated with family and friends at Pine River United Church, Sunday, complete with cake, balloons and Audrey's favourite hymns!

Belated birthday greetings to Kelsey Thompson, Stefani Simpson and Monty Thompson of Gladstone, Manitoba. Happy Wedding Anniversary to Bonnie and Jim Maschke.

We extend our sympathy to the families of Evelyn Elliott and Gordon Dadson of Kincardine, Betty Leonard of Goderich, formerly Ripley, and Joyce McNay of Kitchener. There will be many stories and memories shared of these wonderful people.

Last weekend, was the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands, with celebrations at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, Groesbeek, and at Holten Canadian War Cemetery, Holten; and the Apeldoorn Liberation Parade, Apeldoorn, and Liberation Parade in Wageningen. There was extensive coverage on the “Canada Remembers” Facebook page and a number of Canadians returned to the Netherlands for the week, as well as other delegations. More history that cannot be forgotten.

The Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN) received many trees last week, with some distributed and planted over the weekend and more to be planted this week. Thank you to all who belong to this organization and work to restore the Pine River watershed, and plant trees.
