Huron-Bruce MP named Conservative shadow cabinet minister of digital government and AI

Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb has been re-appointed as the shadow cabinet minister of digital government, with the added portfolio of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre announced the party’s leadership team and shadow cabinet for the 45th session of Parliament which will focus on fighting for jobs, affordability and safety for Canadians.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving alongside my Conservative colleagues in the shadow cabinet, holding the government to account on this critical portfolio,” said Lobb.

“Understanding the risks and benefits of artificial intelligence is more important than ever before with the rise of new and innovative tools and technologies available to everyday Canadians.

“Conservatives recognize that digital technology and AI can bring immense value to businesses and industries, as well as increase much-needed efficiencies in government. We want to unlock these abilities, while at the same time ensuring the privacy and rights of Canadians and protecting jobs.”

Lobb has served in his capacity as shadow cabinet minister for digital government since October, 2022.
