​Street closed for three months because project has multiple parts, says municipality

Prompted by concerns from the public, the Municipality of Kincardine has provided an update about the closure of Kincardine Avenue for the next three months while traffic lights are installed.

In a press release, issued Wednesday, the municipality offered a few more details about this project:
 

• This is a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) project on Highway 21, affecting Kincardine Avenue, which is a municipal roadway.
• Kincardine Avenue is closed to both the east and west of Highway 21 as installations under these roads will support the project.
• Highway 21 will remain open during the project, but there will be lane reductions and delays. If you can choose an alternate route, please do so.
• Detour signs are in place to help guide you to Kincardine Avenue.
  • Use the Bruce Avenue detour to connect with Kincardine Avenue to the west of Highway 21.
  • Use the Highway 9 detour to connect with Kincardine Avenue to the east of Highway 21.
• All businesses remain open during construction – the business owners appreciate your continued support.

“Yes, three months is a long time,” states the release. “However there are multiple parts to this project beyond the lights. The road is widening for traffic volumes and adequate turning lanes are improvements that will allow for better flow.

“Please, slow down and use caution in the construction area. Your patience, kindness, and understanding are greatly appreciated as this work is completed by the MTO and its contractors.”
