Walkerton bridge weight limits in effect
Walkerton’s Durham Street Bridge remains under construction and commercial trucks are to use alternative truck routes.
The weight restriction is a three-level load limit, corresponding to the configuration and size of heavy vehicles, based on the number of axles. It sets maximum allowable weights as follows:
- 15 tonnes for single-unit trucks (typically with two axles)
- 25 tonnes for larger trucks or tractor-trailers with more axles
- 30 tonnes for multi-axle combinations or full tractor-trailer units
The weight limit came into effect in
February, 2024. Alternative truck routes are in place to allow for the continued movement of truck traffic until repairs are made to the bridge. Advanced warning signage is placed strategically ahead of the bridge to divert heavy truck traffic from passing over the bridge.
