Mildred Griffith receives FWIO life membership at Bervie W.I. meeting

Several members of the Bervie Women's Institute travelled to the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre, Wednesday, to view the displays and see the video on nuclear energy.

They then went to the home of Diane Wilson in Kincardine for their meeting and lunch.

Bev Berndt opened the meeting with the usual openings and the land acknowledgement. The Roll Call, "What do you know about nuclear power," was answered by eight members. Betty Jean White read the minutes of the last meeting and Islay Eby gave the treasurer's report.

District director Janice Hewitt had prepared the report on the Bruce District Annual held in Chesley, May 22. Bev Berndt explained that she is on the quilt show committee for the Bruce International Plowing Match being held near Walkerton in September, 2026. Appropriate funds for quilt show prizes will be donated at a later date. Ellen Waye reported on the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario (FWIO) newsletter. 

Honorary life memberships were presented to Mildred Griffith, and to Elsie Schular who was unable to attend the meeting.

The meeting closed with the closing ode and "God Save the King."

A big thank you to Diane Wilson for being hostess and providing a delicious lunch.

The next meeting will be at the Bervie United Church, on July 2, at 10 a.m., with Liz Dadson of the Kincardine Record as guest speaker.
