Bruce Power and its suppliers make $100,000 donation to Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada
Bruce Power and its supplier partners have donated $100,000 to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada in honour of World Brain Tumour Day (June 8).

“Bruce Power has been a global leader in medical innovation and the production of medical isotopes for more than 35 years,” said James Scongack, Bruce Power’s chief operating officer and executive vice-president, who also serves as chairman of the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council.

“Bruce Power’s donation enables the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada to provide one of the most targeted and advanced forms of radiation treatments available for many brain cancers today. Together, we can offer support and hope to those in need.”

Nicole Farrell, interim chief executive officer of the foundation, said the organization is deeply grateful to Bruce Power and its supplier partners for their generous donation.

“While research is critical and we are thankful to every donor who helps bring us closer to a cure, support like this allows us to make an impact now,” she said. “As a 100-per-cent donor-funded organization, this contribution directly helps patients and families today, whether through our patient and caregiver handbooks, life-enhancing webinars and podcasts, or peer-led support groups that address the emotional, cognitive, and physical challenges of a brain tumour diagnosis.

“Because of Bruce Power and its suppliers, we can meet people where they are and provide the help they need, when they need it most.”

The donation combines commitments from Bruce Power’s Community Investment Fund and the Supplier Sponsorship Program which features nearly 60 companies from throughout the nuclear supply chain.

The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario are also recipients of donations through Bruce Power’s isotope merchandise website at www.isotopemerch.com. Each purchase of these beautiful items, including clothing, drinkware, and office supplies, results in a $1 donation to each organization.
