Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) vice-principal Peter Jolliffe was the reviewing officer at the 34th annual Kincardine Air Cadets inspection and review, held Saturday afternoon, June 14, in the Kincardine Hall at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
The event began with the 183 Typhoon Squadron forming up and marching on parade. Once the dignitaries had arrived, the crowd sang "O Canada," and Jolliffe conducted his review and gave a few remarks.
“I’m honoured to be here today,” he said. “The squadron looks great out there. You have a good program with a lot of strong leadership here, helping and serving others. You all have a bright future ahead of you. Thanks for sharing what leadership looks like.”
Along with Jolliffe, the dignitaries included Kincardine Legion representative Sandra Benbow, commanding officer Captain Richard Miller, and J3 Zone training officer Captain Jason Higgins.

Miller thanked the staff, volunteers and supporters for making the program such a great success. Working with him, are deputy commanding officer Captain Patty Coulter, training officer Captain Moiken Penner, senior instructor Brendan Frayne, and administrative civilian instructors Robert Grey and Beth Hayes.
He also thanked the squadron sponsoring committee, led by chairman Dietrich McKenzie, and the parents and supporters of Typhoon Squadron 183, Kincardine.
Miller noted there were four former commanding officers assisting with the presentation of awards, and thanked them for supporting the cadets.
“There’s always a job here if you would like to help out,” he told the crowd. “You can become a civilian instructor or work with the sponsoring committee.”
As of Monday, June 16, Miller was stepping down as commanding officer, and Coulter was taking on the position. “Thank you to everyone for your support over the years. It has been a pleasure to be the commanding officer of this squadron.”
