Bruce Power announces another $500,000 for Kincardine Hospital, at Rock With Your Docs
Bruce Power and its suppliers are contributing another $500,000 the Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project.

The announcement came from James Scongack, chief operating officer and executive vice-president of Bruce Power, at the fourth annual Rock With Your Docs event, Friday night, at the Davidson Centre.

Scongack had joined Nancy Shaw, president and chief executive officer of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, on stage to announce the main attraction of the evening, the Kincardine health-care professionals band, “Local Anesthesia.”

He told the crowd that the most important things in life are your health and your family.

“We need front-line health-care workers who care for us during some of the most difficult times in our lives,” he said. “Thank you to them, and to the volunteers who put together this event tonight.

“We’re all part of this great community, and there are three things you can do to support the Kincardine Hospital: contribute what you can – every contribution matters; volunteer to help out with events and activities; and spread the word."

Shaw also thanked Dr. Jason Murray and paid tribute to the late Doug Kennedy who spearheaded the Rock With Your Docs event, raising close to $200,000 for the $18-million capital campaign. The redevelopment project will expand and upgrade the emergency room, the laboratory and diagnostic imaging, and add a new decontamination unit and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine – all vital parts of the hospital.

At that point, Scongack surprised everyone, including campaign manager Mark Womack, by announcing a further $500,000 from Bruce Power and its supplier partners, for the MRI.

The event also featured a live auction which raised thousands of dollars, and a delicious roast beef dinner by West Coast Catering of Kincardine.
