Point Clark Lighthouse re-opens for summer tours, June 27
The iconic Point Clark Lighthouse is set to re-open for summer tours, beginning this Friday, June 27, at 10:30 a.m.
From June 27 to Sept. 1, the lighthouse will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering a unique historical experience and breathtaking views of the Lake Huron shoreline.
Guided tours are available every half-hour, with the final tour of the day starting at 4:30 p.m.
Advance-booking is highly recommended to secure your spot, though walk-in tours may be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To book a tour, visit
Point Clark Lighthouse Guided Tours or you can visit the lighthouse to check for available spots. Admission is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children (aged four to 12). Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The tour typically lasts 20-30 minutes, depending on how quickly you can climb the seven floors and 114 steps. Each tour accommodates up to eight people.
Your health and safety are the top priority. If at any point during the tour you need to rest or return to the base, the tour guides will accommodate you. Alternatively, enjoy the beautiful ground-level views and explore the newly-renovated museum.
Things to know before climbing the Point Clark Lighthouse:
- Wear closed-toe shoes or sandals with a back — no flip-flops or slides
- Dress comfortably and avoid carrying large bags, as you’ll need your hands free
- An average level of fitness and general health is required; the tour is not recommended for those with lung or heart conditions, pregnant individuals, or those with a fear of heights or confined spaces
- Children under the age of four are not permitted to climb the tower but can visit the museum for free
- A waiver must be signed before the tour
- Tours are cancelled during thunderstorms, with full refunds provided; tours will resume one hour after the last visible lightning strike or at the discretion of the lighthouse co-ordinator
