Ripley Wolves announce team’s new general manager
Mike Howes (above) is the new general manager of the Ripley Wolves hockey team of the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL).
A relatively new resident of Huron-Kinloss Township, “Howesy” has been a rock-solid defenceman and true community leader and ambassador over the past two seasons. He coached both the fall and winter cohorts of the Junior Wolves Development Camps and spearheaded the puck-shooting contest run by the Wolves at last year’s Ripley-Huron Fall Fair.
“I am flattered and humbled to take on this role with a team and a village that I have so much respect for,” said Howes. “I care deeply about the Wolves and can’t wait to help shape what’s next for the organization.”
“Howesy has a great work ethic and has been extremely dedicated to the Wolves organization the past two years on the ice and in the community,” said head coach Mark Whalen. “We are excited to have him take over as general manager and look forward to a successful 2025-26 Wolves season.”
While he takes on the new role of general manager, Howes plans to remain a steadfast Wolves defenceman, making him the first general manager in the history of the team to ‘play’ both roles at the same time!
Howes takes over from Corey McCrae.
Also of note, the OEHL member clubs and the Ontario Hockey Association have approved a second round of expansion for 2025-26.
The league welcomes the Dunnville Aeros and the Elmvale Harvesters. Both teams fit the vision of sustainable, competitive, small-town hockey.”
