Victoria Park Gallery scholarships presented to two KDSS graduates

Mary Faubert and Dianne Graham of the Victoria Park Gallery were pleased to present scholarships to two high school graduates of Kincardine District Senior School, Monday, at the gallery.

Aaron Biehl of Tiverton and Jen McLarty of Kincardine each received $500 toward their post-secondary education.

In the fall, Aaron is going to Sheridan College in Oakville to study art fundamentals.

Holding a portrait he painted of his father, he said he likes working in acrylics, pencil and pen, but has also worked with plaster, wood and metal, and has tried welding.

Jen is headed for McGill University in Montreal in the fall to earn a Bachelor of Science in architecture.

She has always loved drawing, painting or creating something. She would spend hours at the mini-table in the family’s kitchen, colouring, cutting and making cards for family members, pictures for the refrigerator and Christmas gifts for friends.

Her dream is to merge her love of art with math and science, to design beautiful buildings that are both functional and environmentally sustainable. She is thrilled to be pursuing her dream in September and cannot wait to get started!
