Kincardine Legion Corner
The Ace has been found! Mike Schroeder won the jackpot of $14,384.50 in the Catch the Ace draw. He chose Envelope No. 4 which contained the Ace of Spades. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and supported this fund-raiser, supporting the Kincardine Legion, Huron Shores Hospice and the Tiverton Lions Club. Thanks, as well, to all of our ticket retailers for your continued support. Stay tuned for the next round; we will announce the start date once we know.
At the
Saturday Meat Draw, Elmer Lamont was the only double-dipper. Ed McGillvary won some meat and then went on to win the 50/50 draw and took home $210. Congratulations to all the winners, and we hope to see you all this coming Saturday.
Canada Day will soon be here, and we invite you to come on down to the Legion. It will be a fun day on the patio, with some great food and drink, some live music by HWY 19 and plenty of Canadian pride! Be sure to wear your red-and-white, and remember that everyone is welcome! At the Canada Day celebration, we will be selling tickets for The Ballaghs event happening July 20, part of the 2nd Annual Doug Kennedy Jersey Day Fund-raiser, so pick up your tickets while you’re there.
At the
Royal Canadian Legion District “C” Crystal Taylor Memorial Track Meet, June 14, in Cambridge, some of our Kincardine athletes placed well. Congratulations to the following athletes:
- Adalee Turland, who placed 1st in the Women’s U18 Shot Put (her throw was more than two metres further than her next closest competitor) and 2nd in the U18 Women’s Discus
- Evie Turland, who placed 1st in her division, the U14 Women’s Shot Put, and 1st in both the U14 Women’s Javelin, and the U14 Discus
These two sisters represented us well! Thanks to all the athletes who travelled down to the meet to represent Kincardine.
The next
Trivia Night is tomorrow (June 27). Good luck to all the teams and thanks to Kincardine Pride for sponsoring this night.
Remember to mark Sunday, July 13, on your calendar for our next
Family Dinner. The menu will be smoked pork chops, scalloped potatoes and all the fixings, cooked by Jon Shaw.
We had our
Branch General Meeting last weekend, and members were able to hear about, and discuss, our year-end finances. The Branch did very well in the past year and donated a total of $261,000 back into the community. Wow! Legion members should please remember that there are no General Meetings in July and August. General Meetings resume in September.
If you are driving by the Legion, have a look at our
new digital sign out front. We hope to put reminders of all our great coming events and happenings on the new sign. If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback, you can send it along to me.
