South Bruce OPP report stunt-driver; and Canada Day campaign results
DRIVER CHARGED WITH STUNT-DRIVING WHILE KIDS IN VEHICLE
(BROCKTON, ON) - July 5, at 5:08 p.m., a member of the South Bruce OPP was on general patrol along Sideroad 10 South in the Municipality of Brockton.
A vehicle was stopped after it was observed conducting what is commonly referred to as a 'burn-out,' and fishtailing along the roadway. The officer approached the vehicle and found that three young children were in the front passenger seat, none of whom was secured by car seats or seatbelts.
A 35-year-old resident of Brockton, was charged with:
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt, HTA 172(1)
- Drive while child passenger not properly secured, HTA 106(4)(b) - three counts
The vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.
The accused is set to appear Aug. 5, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges.
CANADA DAY TRAFFIC WEEK RESULTS
(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) - Members of the South Bruce OPP participated in the annual province-wide traffic safety initiative from June 27 to July 6.
During this campaign, officers issued a total of 116 Provincial Offences, including:
- 62 - speeding
- Five - disobey Stop sign
- Seven - drive while under suspension
- Four - stunt-driving
- One - no helmet
- One - careless driving
Additionally, three motorists were arrested and charged with impaired-driving-related offences.
