Bruce Power to host Bruce “C” community information sessions
Are you interested in the future of the Bruce Power site and potential growth opportunities that would help meet future energy needs and further the region’s role as Ontario’s Clean Energy Frontier?

With Bruce Power currently undergoing a federal integrated Impact Assessment to create an option to build up to 4,800 megawatts (MW) of new nuclear capacity at the site — a project referred to as Bruce “C” — engagement is an important part of the process.

Everyone is welcome to the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre, north of Tiverton at 3394 Bruce County Road 20, July 27 from 1-4 p.m., to speak with members of the Bruce “C” team and learn more about the project. Registration for the community information session is not required.

If you are unable to attend this event in person, register for a virtual live-stream, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m., hosted by James Scongack, Bruce Power's chief operating officer and executive vice-president.

“Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator is predicting that electricity demand is expected to grow rapidly in the coming decades and Bruce Power is exploring opportunities to support the need for emissions-free generation while also driving the economy,” said Pat Dalzell, Bruce Power’s vice-president of corporate affairs and market development.

“We’re undertaking a federal integrated Impact Assessment (IA) process, led by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) alongside the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), to study the potential environmental, economic, social and health impacts of a new nuclear build. Engaging with Indigenous nations and communities, municipalities and the public, is an important part of the process.”

The in-person session will feature tables at which guests can inquire about different topics and have conversations with members of the project team who specialize in those areas. The virtual live-stream will include a presentation by Scongack, and a question-and-answer component.
