South Bruce OPP report collision on closed road; fail-to-remain charges; and threats

COLLISION ON CLOSED ROAD LEADS TO ARREST

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - July 16, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a motor vehicle collision on Bruce County Road 19, in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

Police attended and discovered that a vehicle had driven on a closed section of Bruce County Road 19 and struck a parked excavator. The driver fled the scene, but was located shortly, thereafter. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the driver who was taken into custody and transported for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Brittney HUYGEN, 26, of the Municipality of Brockton, was charged with:
 

• Operation while impaired - B.A.C. 80-plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)
• Dangerous Operation, CC 320.13(1)
• Fail to remain, HTA 200(1)(a)
• Fail to report accident, HTA 199(1)
• Drive on closed highway, HTA 134(3)
• Fail to surrender licence, HTA 33(1)

The accused is set to appear Aug. 13, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges.

FAIL-TO-REMAIN COLLISION OCCUPANTS LOCATED

(BROCKTON, ON) - The South Bruce OPP has laid charges, following a fail-to-remain collision outside of Walkerton.

July 16, at approximately 2:55 p.m., police received the report of a collision, involving two vehicles at the intersection of Concession 2 and Sideroad 5, Greenock, in the Municipality of Brockton. Two occupants from an involved vehicle fled the scene on foot. Due to a tip from a member of the public, they were subsequently located.

As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old motorist of Huron-Kinloss has been charged with:
 

• Driving while under suspension, HTA 53(1)
• Disobey Stop sign, HTA 136(1)(a)
• Fail to remain, HTA 200(1)(a)
• Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, CAIA 2(1)(a)

The passenger was also placed under arrest due to an outstanding warrant and returned to the originating service.

PERSON OF INTEREST IDENTIFIED IN THREATS INVESTIGATION

(KINCARDINE, ON) - A person of interest has been identified in an ongoing threats investigation.

July 15, the South Bruce OPP received the report of an altercation along Queen Street in Kincardine.
Investigation revealed that the altercation took place between two individuals in the area of Queen Street and Durham Street, where one individual uttered threats to cause death.

Multiple tips from members of the public assisted investigators in identifying a person of interest. Thank you for your assistance.
