We are still in the turn-around cycle for our next round of Catch the Ace, and hope to start up again as soon as possible. Watch the Facebook page for updates, so you can be sure to get your tickets.

At the Saturday Meat Draw, Allen seemed to be the lucky last name, and Scott seemed to be the lucky first name. Scott Allen was the double-dipper, but Shannon Allen and Heidi Allen also won a prize. Scott Richards won some meat and then went on to win $150 in the 50/50 draw. Please note: there will be no Meat Draw, Saturday, Aug. 2, but be sure to mark Aug. 16 on your calendar, as that will be the Mega Meat Draw with TNT Boom providing some music for the afternoon.

In District Golf news, thanks to those players representing Branch 183 in Owen Sound, July 12. Congratulations to Dave Cooper and Les Kelly who finished fifth in the Seniors Division, and to Carolyn Kelly and Cathy Alcombrack (who filled in for Brenda) who came in second in the Ladies Division. Next up, is provincial golf in September, in Innisfil, and we wish everyone good luck!

Last weekend’s Family Dinner in the hall was sold out. We thank all the volunteers, and especially Jon and Lisa Shaw, for all the hard work that went into putting on such a wonderful dinner for everyone who attended.



Branch 183’s July Family Dinner was a hit and sold out quickly

Mark Ozorio shared some amazing Track and Field news with us. At the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Outdoor Championships 2025, held July 11-12 at the Metro Track Complex at York University, Kincardine’s own Adalee Turland won a gold medal in the Shot Put and a silver medal in the Hammer Throw. Adalee, who attends KDSS, now advances to the nationals in Calgary, from Aug. 8-10, at Foothills Athletic Park. Good luck, Adalee, we all wish you well!

If you are around the Legion this coming Saturday, July 19, you might be able to say hi to the riders from the Maitland Valley Ride for Dad, who have made Branch 183 one of their stops on the Group Ride. You can learn more on their website, and even donate to their cause, just visit ridefordad.ca/chapter/maitlandvalley.

Then, Sunday, July 20, be sure to get your jerseys out and head down to our Second Annual Doug Kennedy Jersey Day Fund-raiser - featuring TNT Boom and Local Anesthesia. We start at 1 p.m. and the free music will begin at 2 p.m. We have a food/drink special available for purchase, which includes Doug’s favourite, wings, and fresh cut fries, along with an adult beverage - $10 from each purchase will be donated to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation in Doug’s memory. This is a great cause and we look forward to hosting everyone on Sunday. We will have tables outside, and hopefully, the weather will co-operate.

Trivia Night is July 25, and sign up is now open. Just drop in to the Legion Bar to sign up your team. Teams are usually eight people, and the cost is $5 per person. If you’re’ here visiting that week and you’ve never played? No problem, all you need is to sign up, and think up a clever team name. Not to worry, our Trivia host Laura is very nice to new players.

Remember that on each Thursday, starting at 5 p.m. we fire up the barbecue at the Legion and get the burgers going. So if you don’t know what to make for dinner on a Thursday, drop down to the Branch and get a burger for $6, and add some fries for $5. If you're too full to go home right away, just stick around and play some Bingo!
