Kincardine Legion Corner
Sunday’s second annual
Doug Kennedy Jersey Day Fund-raiser was an amazing success! We raised $3,500 during the day, and the Kincardine Legion, Branch 183, has topped up that amount, making a donation of $7,500 to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation in Doug’s name. We thank everyone who came and bought food and drinks, and tickets for raffles and draws, and a big thank you to both TNT Boom and Local Anesthesia for not only providing great music, but also donating their fee back to the cause and playing for free! Speaking of giving back, we are grateful to the 50/50 winner, Kurt Weigel, who graciously gave back half his winnings. Thanks to Al Brown who spent the entire day in the kitchen, cooking wings and fries just how Doug liked them, and to Kim for getting our orders straight! Thanks to the Kincardine Bulldogs for donating prizes for the raffle. Behind the scenes, we had our great Legion volunteers — thanks for your efforts to make the day run smoothly.

The
Catch the Ace community progressive lottery is back up and running. Kristi McKenna won $1,067 in the first draw. She chose Envelope No. 31 which contained the Jack of Hearts. In case you didn’t hear, we started this new round right back where we left off the last time, with a jackpot amount over $14,000. Remember, you can get in-person tickets at the following locations: Kwik Way in Tiverton, Sleepers Bed Gallery, Jean's Family Restaurant, InStyle Hair Studio, and at the Legion Bar.
At the
Saturday Meat Draw, July 19, Cathy Alcombrack won the 50/50 draw taking home $148. It was a good week for Legion leaders, with our president winning twice, and our past-president also winning a prize. Make sure to mark Aug. 16 on your calendar, as that will be a Mega Meat Draw, with TNT Boom providing the music. As well, please note there will be no Meat Draw, Saturday, Aug. 2.
It was nice to see the riders from the
Maitland Valley Ride for Dad group last Saturday, as they made Branch 183 one of their stops on the ride. We welcomed 135 riders to the Legion.
