Emergency services on scene of structure fire on Nelson Street in Goderich
(GODERICH, ON) - Emergency responders are currently on scene, dealing with a fully-engulfed, residential apartment building fire in Goderich.
Friday, Aug. 1, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Huron County OPP, the Goderich Fire Department and Huron EMS responded to the blaze on Nelson Street.
Firefighters continue to battle the fire, and police are asking residents to stay away from the area.
Police have evacuated the buildings and houses on Brock Street and Nelson Street East, affected by fire, and have opened a warming centre at the Knights of Columbus at 390 Parsons Court. No injuries have been reported.
Nelson Street is currently closed between Cambria Road North and Albert Street.
The Office of the Fire Marshall has been contacted, and updates will be provided when new information becomes available.
