Holly McAdam, Mike Dupuis named Kincardine Legion’s 2025 Legionnaires of the Year
Holly McAdam and Mike Dupuis have been named this year’s Kincardine Legionnaires of the Year.

The announcement was made at the Honours and Awards and Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, held Saturday night, July 26, in the Legion Hall.

Legion president Teri Leslie said the dedication that McAdam and Dupuis have shown to the Kincardine Legion has been nothing short of remarkable. They have poured their time, care, and hearts into every task, event, and initiative, transforming good intentions into real-world impact, and they have become pillars of the Legion family.

“Being named Legionnaires of the Year is a reflection of their tireless commitment, quiet leadership, and the countless moments they have spent lifting others up,” she said. “Whether co-ordinating behind the scenes or standing proudly in our colour guard, they both have infused our branch with warmth, strength, and unity.”

The evening began with Jennifer Farrell of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band leading in the head table, which included Legion chaplain Rev. Eric Williams, president Teri Leslie, past-president Jim McDonald, Zone C-1 commander Jon Corbett, and District C commander Dennis Schmidt.

Leslie welcomed about 100 people to the banquet and said the evening was not only to celebrate the Legion’s achievements, but to recognize the heart and soul behind them, namely all the extraordinary volunteers, including the many people who help out, from supporting the veterans and their families, to fostering remembrance, fellowship, and civic pride, and continually upholding the values of the Royal Canadian Legion.

“When you belong to the Royal Canadian Legion, you become part of something bigger — a movement of respect, remembrance, and resilience. Every step you take strengthens our mission, and for that, we celebrate you. To all of you, a heartfelt thank-you.”

Certificates of Merit:

  • Kirk Rutledge - For his unwavering commitment, tireless energy, and refusal to back down from even the toughest tasks. He doesn’t just volunteer — he owns it, heart and soul.
  • Jon Shaw - In the past year, an immediate need arose, Jon stepped up, rolled up his sleeves, and tackled the kitchen with heart and purpose. Jon’s dedication reminds us that service isn’t always planned – sometimes, it’s showing up when the call comes in - and Jon showed up magnificently.
  • Lisa Shaw - Every well-run kitchen has a rhythm, and Lisa is the heartbeat keeping ours in perfect time. Her behind-the-scenes work is the reason everything in the front of the house runs so smoothly. We are deeply grateful for the order, warmth, and care you bring.
  • Don Brown - It takes precision, patience, and a deep sense of responsibility to do what Don does. And it takes heart to give that effort freely, over and over again. He has, literally and figuratively, kept the lights on, and in doing so, helped uphold the integrity and warmth of this community hub.
