More than 70 United Way backpacks ready to assist students in Kincardine area
More than 70 fully-stocked United Way of Bruce Grey backpacks are ready to assist students in the Kincardine area, returning to school in September.
Local organizer Wendy Cox says she will be picking up another 21, all to be distributed later this week.
Last year, 66 backpacks were distributed from Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine. This year’s demand reflects a considerable increase in the number of families struggling in the current economic climate, says Cox.
The backpack distribution will run the same time as the free distribution of donated children’s clothing, at the church, Thursday, Aug. 14, from 6-8 p.m.; and Friday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
