Bruce Brown won $1,149 in this week’s Catch the Ace draw. He chose Envelope No. 5 which contained the King of Spades — very close to the Ace of Spades, indeed! Moving on, be sure to get your tickets for next week’s draw - you can’t win if you don’t have a ticket!

At the Saturday Meat Draw, Scott Allen was a double-dipper and Pierrette Laland was a triple-dipper! Not to be outdone, Scott went on to win the 50/50 draw and took home $78. Congratulation to all the winners. Don’t forget that this Saturday is our big Mega Meat Draw, with food for sale by the Tusk Express Kitchen which will soon be serving at Grey Matter. Music will be provided by the illustrious TNT Boom, so you know there will be some dancing. It all starts at 2 p.m. and runs until about 6 p.m. Hope to see everyone there, and remember, we have some great prizes!

Back in July, we announced our donation of $500 to the West Coast Whitecaps for their 2025–26 season. This past week, 1st vice-president Cathy Alcombrack caught up with Kate McKenzie to present the big cheque. The Whitecaps let us know that our donation will help offset expenses, such as ice rentals, game official fees, administrative costs, and marketing or promotional materials. This initiative — referred to as A-Zone Hockey — will launch with the 2025-26 season and span six A-Zones.

Summer is moving fast, and so are ticket sales for our 3rd Annual Lulu’s Band Hootenanny. Tickets are $40 each. This is a popular event and will likely sell out, so get your tickets early, and come enjoy some great tunes and dancing.

Branch 183 was saddened to hear of the passing of Ann Ditchfield and sends our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Ann was a Legion member for many years and will be missed. Funeral details can be found here: www.kincardinerecord.com/story.php?id=18675. We were also saddened to learn of the passing of Doreen Wardley-Nowell, a long-time veteran of the Kincardine Legion before moving to a nursing home in Walkerton. Doreen died Monday and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her funeral details can be found at: www.kincardinerecord.com/story.php?id=18679.
