​South Bruce OPP report arrest in arson incident; and three impaired drivers
WOMAN ARRESTED IN ARSON INCIDENT

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - The South Bruce OPP has laid charges in an arson investigation in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

Aug. 14, at 5:16 a.m., the South Bruce OPP and Arran-Elderslie Fire and Emergency Services attended a residence in Burgoyne in response to an active structure fire. Officers determined that the fire had been deliberately set by an individual who was still on scene. That person was taken into custody, without incident.

A 26-year-old Arran-Elderslie woman has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
 
  • Assault with a weapon, CC 267(a) - two counts
  • Arson - disregard for human life, CC 433(a)

The accused was held for a bail hearing Aug. 14, and subsequently remanded into custody.

RIDE PROGRAM LEADS TO ARREST

(KINCARDINE, ON) - Aug. 16, at approximately 1:45 a.m., the South Bruce OPP was conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check along Bruce County Road 23, Municipality of Kincardine.

A vehicle entered the area where police then spoke with the driver. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported for further testing.

Domenic BERNARDI, 37, of New Brunswick, was charged with Operation while impaired, CC 320.14(1)(a).

The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton, Sept. 24, to answer to the charge.

IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(KINCARDINE, ON) - Aug. 16, at 4:28 p.m., a member of the South Bruce OPP stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation along Lambton Street, Kincardine.

During the interaction, the investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the driver. A roadside Approved Screening Device test was administered, which registered a fail. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Thomas HUDSON, 36, of Brockton, was charged with:
 
  • Operation while impaired - B.A.C. 80-plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Operation while prohibited, CC 320.18(1)(a)
  • Fail to properly wear seatbelt, HTA 106(2)
  • Class G1 licence - unaccompanied by qualified driver, HTA O.Reg 340/94 5(1)

The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton, Sept. 17, to answer to the charge.

COLLISION LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE

(BROCKTON, ON) - Aug. 17, at 3:18 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a collision along Concession 8, Municipality of Brockton.

Police attended and discovered a vehicle had entered the ditch. The investigating officer spoke with the involved driver and detected signs of impairment. Following a fail on the roadside Approved Screening Device, the driver was taken into custody and transported to undergo further testing.

Jason RUDOLPH, 22, of Williamsford, was charged with Operation while impaired - B.A.C. 80-plus, CC 320.14(1)(b).

The accused is set to appear on Oct. 1, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton, to answer to the charge.
