Highway 21, Kincardine Avenue intersection re-opens; Russell Street to close for three months
The new traffic lights are up and running at the intersection of Highway 21 and Kincardine Avenue in Kincardine.
Closed since the end of May, Kincardine Avenue, east and west of Highway 21, is now open.
The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) has shifted its equipment to the intersection of Highway 21 and Russell Street, says Adam Weishar, Kincardine’s director of infrastructure and development.
He emphasizes that this is an MTO project, not the municipality’s, and the expectation is that Russell Street will be closed soon, and remain closed through to the end of November.
The work at Russell Street will include:
- New traffic lights
- New illumination
- Drainage improvements
- Pavement resurfacing
- Addition of a left-turn lane in the northbound direction on Highway 21
- Addition of a left-turn lane in the eastbound direction on Russell Street
- Addition of a future left-turn lane in the southbound direction on Highway 21
- Addition of a future right-turn lane in the northbound direction on Highway 21
- Addition of new east leg up to an MTO right-of-way, to accommodate future development
