Excavating Davidson Centre pool more than digging a hole in the ground, says Cuyler

RE: “Kincardine’s Davidson Centre has stood the test of time, says former recreation director”
Wayne Lowry was the main excavation contractor when the Davidson Centre pool was built, back in 1975, but others were also involved.
I worked for Kincardine Construction Co. and when we excavated the pool, the east wall was left open and I operated the excavator that dug the pool. The hole was dug out in the shape of the pool and the pool was sprayed on to the shape of the excavation.
It took three days to dig it but I don’t remember how long to shape it. It was more than digging a hole in the ground.
If my memory serves me right, I think I had five trucks hauling material away from me, and they had to back down a slope to where I was inside the building.
