Huron County OPP report impaired driver; and shoplifter nabbed
IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TWP, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a London resident with impaired driving offences, following a traffic stop in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township.
Monday, Sept. 1, just after 7:15 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle on Bluewater Veterans Highway in the township. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.
The accused provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilizer Breath Technician at the Huron County OPP detachment in Clinton. The breath samples resulted in readings over the legal limit.
Michael PETTEPLACE, 51, of London has been charged with:
- Impaired Operation - Alcohol and Drug
- Impaired Operation - Over-80
The individual was additionally charged with an offence found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.
The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Oct. 6.
ARREST MADE AFTER SHOPLIFTER ASSAULTS STORE STAFF
(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged an individual, following an incident at a retail store on Huron Road in the Town of Goderich.
Friday, Sept. 5, just after 9:50 a.m., Huron OPP officers were contacted about an individual who reportedly stole items from a store and assaulted a staff member. Police subsequently located and arrested the individual nearby. Officers located the stolen merchandise on the accused. The staff member was not injured in the assault.
David LENTING, 29, of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault
- Theft Under $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Probation
The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing, and then remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
