Kincardine chamber announces nominees for Community Achievement Awards
The Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce has announced the nominees for the annual Community Achievement Awards.
Congratulations to everyone who was nominated. The chamber received an incredible 95 nominations from the community!
The three finalist nominees in 15 award categories have been confirmed, and are listed below:
7 GEN INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD - Presented to an individual, business or organization that is guided by a sense of responsibility and respect for the environment, which is manifested through initiatives designed to preserve, conserve or improve the local environment.
Nominees: Bruce Botanical Food Gardens, Lake Huron Coastal Centre, Pine River Watershed Initiative Network
BRUCE POWER CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD - Presented to an area resident who has demonstrated strong citizenship with outstanding contributions to community service, and has substantially enhanced the well being of its citizens.
Nominees: Larry Bannerman, Andrea Clarke, Wes Larson
BRUCE TELECOM YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR AWARD - Presented to an individual, under the age of 35, who owns a business, has shown excellent leadership qualities, innovation in business skills, proactive employee and customer relations and community leadership.

ENBRIDGE QUALITY OF LIFE AWARD - Presented to a business, not-for-profit, or community organization for its outstanding contribution to the quality of life for those in the community.

JENNIFER COOK AND ASSOCIATES, THE CO-OPERATORS WOMAN OF DISTINCTION AWARD – Presented to a local woman, who through her initiative, ability and efforts has made an exemplary achievement in her field and is an outstanding role model, because of her goals and the way she has achieved those goals.

KINCARDINE AND DISTRICT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD - Presented to a business in operation for two or more years, that exhibits excellence in business growth, customer service and community leadership.

LAKESIDE DOWNTOWN KINCARDINE AMBASSADOR AWARD - In honour of former downtown development manager Rick Clarke, this award is presented to an individual, organization or business that has made an exceptional contribution to Lakeside Downtown Kincardine, relating to community involvement, access and safety, promotion of assets, preserving and enhancing downtown character, all while inspiring economic vitality.

LAW OFFICES OF ANDREA CLARKE DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION AWARD - Presented to an individual, business, group or organization that has demonstrated leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion within the community.

LINDA BOWERS CENTURY 21 IN-STUDIO REALTY EDUCATION AND YOUTH PROGRAMMING EXCELLENCE AWARD - Presented to a business, group or person in the community that has made an exceptional contribution to child and youth development in an extra-curricular environment.

MILLER INSURANCE AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS AWARD - Presented to an agricultural business that has demonstrated growth, sales, leadership and has an active involvement in the community.

MNP CUSTOMER SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD - Presented to a business that has shown extraordinary commitment to customer service and care.

MUNICIPALITY OF KINCARDINE TOURISM AWARD - Presented to a business, group or organization that has exemplified hospitality, experience, and sustainability in the Municipality of Kincardine.

NPX GOOD NEIGHBOUR AWARD - Presented to an individual whose actions help to build connections within the community, and whose dedication to the betterment of the community is notable and ongoing.
Nominees: Linda and Keith Battler, Jodee Beer, Darrel Perry
SUPERHEAT BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR - Presented to an individual in an executive position who exemplifies excellent leadership qualities, innovative business skills, proactive employee and customer relations and community leadership.
Nominees: Ryan Cadden, Shawna Small, Nadine VandenHeuvel
YOUTH CITIZENSHIP AWARD, SPONSORED BY COUNCILLORS BLACKWELL, HINCHBERGER AND PRENGER – Presented to a youth (under age 18) who has made a positive impact within the family, neighbourhood, school or community, has demonstrated perseverance while overcoming adversity or otherwise embodies such qualities as bravery, leadership and care for others.
Nominees: Madison Forster, Liam Lynch, Adalee Turland
Submissions in each category will be judged by chambers of commerce from across southern Ontario, and the awards will be presented at the gala, a ticketed event, Thursday, Oct. 9, at Ainsdale Golf Course.
