Three in race to become Ripley-Huron Fall Fair junior ambassador
Three contestants have entered the race to become the junior ambassador of the Ripley-Huron Fall Fair. They will join senior ambassador, Emery Harper (Ripley Reunion ambassador), at the event, Friday night, at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre.
The contestants include:
CASSANDRA BRIDGE
Cassandra is 12 years old and lives just outside of Ripley with her parents, Michael and Courtney Bridge. She is in Grade 8 at Ripley-Huron Community School and enjoys being involved in the community through volunteering.
She has planted trees with the Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN), and volunteered as a leader-in-training at the Bluewater Education Centre in South Bruce Peninsula. In her spare time, she likes being part of the Ripley 4-H Beef Club, playing hockey, going to camp, and spending time with her friends and family.
Cassandra is sponsored by Bridgehaven Farms.
KELSEY THOMPSON
Kelsey is 13 years old and lives in Ripley with her parents, Keith and Julie Thompson. She is in Grade 8 at Ripley-Huron Community School, and enjoys being involved in her community.
She volunteers as a leader-in-training at the Ripley Wolf Cub Camp, helps out at church dinners, plants trees with PRWIN, and pitches in with clean-up at Lucknow’s Music in the Fields alongside her classmates. Sports keep her active year-round. She plays hockey with the Kincardine Rep. team, and soccer, and has completed her Bronze Medallion in swimming.
Kelsey is excited to be part of the junior ambassador program and is proud to be sponsored by Snobelen Farms.
AUDREY KERNIGHAN
Audrey is 14 years old and lives on Concession 2, near Lucknow, with her parents, Tyler and Rachel Kernighan. She is in Grade 9 at Kincardine District Senior School.
In the summer, she spends a lot of time in the garden where she is always weeding, harvesting, and helping her mom make jams, pickles, and other preserves. She also enjoys swimming and is a member of the Kincardine Kippers Swim Team.
She comes from two farming families in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, and has always loved helping with whatever needs to be done around the farm, whether it’s haying, rock-picking, or gardening. Farming and agriculture have been a big part of her life and she is proud to be part of that tradition.
Audrey’s sponsor for the junior ambassador competition, is Red Brick Farm Co.
