Tiverton Fall Fair welcomes another year of unseasonably hot, sunny weather
For the second year in a row, it was unseasonably hot and sunny for the 164th Tiverton Fall Fair on the weekend, under the theme, “Strength in Our Roots.”

The fair was officially opened Friday night, with Emilia Quipp and Callum Fagan named the Tiny Tot Ambassadors, followed by the pie and cake auction.

Saturday morning hundreds of people enjoyed a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and toast, and all the fixings, served by the Tiverton Lions at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre.

Tiverton Lion Hank van Moorsel was pleased to announce that the club has raised the required $45,000 for an autism dog for Lucas Mullen of Tiverton. “It certainly takes a village to make this happen,” he said. “Thank you all.”

The Saddle Horse Show was held behind the Tiverton Arena

The Tiverton fire truck led off the parade which marched from just west of Tiverton through the downtown to the fairgrounds. It featured the Tiverton fire trucks, Teeswater Highlanders Pipe Band, several floats, including the brightly-coloured one for Chalmers Community Church with music from “Veggie Tales,” the Bruce Shriners, and other businesses, groups and organizations.

Once the parade was over, the Lawn Tractor Pull was under way, including stock, super stock and modified classes.

Meanwhile, in the Annex, the Tiverton Lions Cake Wheel was spinning, with people betting on taking home one of those wonderful cakes. And beside the Lions Hall, the Kinetic Knights Robotics Team was doing a demonstration, encouraging young and old to check out what the team has been up to this past season.

Other activities included the kids’ bean box, midway, antique tractor display, and kids’ pedal tractor pull.

The day ended with the fall fair dance to General Gist.

Sunday morning saw more beautiful, sunny weather for the community church service, craft show, children’s pet show, and the popular truck and tractor pull.

The Tiverton Agricultural Society and the fall fair committee appreciate all the support from the volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, vendors, parade participants, entertainers, fair-goers, and the entire community. Organizers are already looking forward to the 165th Tiverton Fall Fair next year.
