Site selected, design proposed for new senior school in Kincardine
As progress continues on the replacement of the Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS), members of the public are invited to view and comment on the new facility’s design.
Students, staff, families, and others in the community may visit
Bluewater District School Board’s website from now until Friday, Oct. 24, to view the preliminary floor plan and renderings for the two-story Grades 7-12 school.
The consultation includes a dedicated E-mail address,
kdssdesignreview@bwdsb.on.ca, which has been created to gather public feedback and questions as part of the board’s commitment to enhance communication with Kincardine area residents. Responses to commonly-asked questions will be posted on the web page as necessary.
To save time and reduce costs, trustees approved a modified repeat design of the current John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover – an architecturally-exceptional and modernized facility which has been warmly received by area students, staff, and families.
The KDSS replacement is being funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education and will have capacity for 881 students. With a build location now selected, staff will be submitting a site plan application to the Municipality of Kincardine, for review and approval, early this winter.
