South Bruce OPP report drug seizure; fail-to-remain collision; and distraction theft
DRUG SEIZURE AT RIDE PROGRAM

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - Oct. 2, at 2:24 a.m., the South Bruce OPP was conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program along Queen Street South in Paisley.

A vehicle entered the area, where an officer observed a passenger known to police from previous dealings and knew the individual to be violating existing terms of release. The individual was taken into custody without incident.

A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of four grams of suspected fentanyl, five grams of suspected methamphetamine, and 11 grams of suspected cocaine.

Angus MACASKILL, 40, of West Grey, has been charged with:
 
  • Failure to comply with release order, CC 145(5)(a) - two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance, CDSA 4(1) - four counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.

DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER FAIL-TO-REMAIN COLLISION

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - Oct. 10, at 4:42 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a fail-to-remain collision on Inkerman Street in Paisley.

Police attended and learned that an off-road vehicle had collided with a cargo van after crossing into the opposite lane at a high rate of speed. The driver fled prior to police arrival. The driver of the cargo van had taken a photo of the suspect vehicle and occupants, and police were able to identify the driver from previous incidents.

Brett HAGAN, 21, of Brockton, was charged with:
 
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Fail to comply with release order, CC 145(5)(a)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.

OPP INVESTIGATE DISTRACTION THEFT FROM RESIDENCE

(KINCARDINE, ON) - The South Bruce OPP is investigating the theft of a purse from a residence in Kincardine.

Oct. 6, between 7:30-8:10 p.m., an unknown male entered a residence along Alice Street in Kincardine and made contact with the homeowner inside, claiming he was locked out of his own residence and requested to use a phone book.

The homeowner allowed the man to look through the phone book and he departed shortly after. After the individual left, the homeowner noticed the missing purse.

Police are looking for the following suspect: Male, about 55 years old, with tan complexion, 5'2" in height, medium build, with short hair, and wearing a black T-shirt. It’s believed he was operating a white Ford pick-up truck.
