Kincardine driver faces charges after fleeing from police
(KINCARDINE, ON) - Oct. 16, at approximately 9 a.m., a member of the South Bruce OPP initiated a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation along Millennium Way, Kincardine.
Upon activating the cruisers emergency lights, the vehicle continued on and into a nearby parking lot. When the officer advised the driver of the reason for the stop, the driver used obscenities toward the officer and fled in the vehicle. The officer did not pursue the vehicle out of public safety concerns. The driver was located later in the day and taken into custody.
Ethan HOPKINS, 32, of Kincardine, was charged with:
- Flight from peace officer, CC 320.17
- Fail to properly wear seatbelt, HTA 106(2)
- Fail to surrender licence, HTA 33(1)
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, HTA 7(5)(a)
- Vehicle modified - fail to apply for new permit, HTAReg 628/90 3
- Fail to surrender insurance card, CAIA 3(1)
The accused is set to appear Dec. 4, to answer to the charges.
