Rotary sharecrows raise half a tonne of items for Kincardine Food Bank, $1,000 for hospital
The Kincardine Rotary Club’s sharecrow fund-raiser has brought in half a tonne (1,000 pounds) of items for the Kincardine Food Bank, and $1,000 for the Kincardine Hospital.

Lillian Watterworth of the Rotary Club says the event was a great success, with more than 40 sharecrows out and about in the community. Participants included businesses, individuals, and three schools: Ecole Elgin Market Public School, Huron Heights Public School, and St. Anthony’s School, all in Kincardine.

Saturday afternoon, everyone dropped off the non-perishable items, that were donated at each sharecrow, at the food bank.

“We gathered up more than 1,000 pounds of food and hygiene products,” said Watterworth, “and we raised $1,000 toward our $5,000 donation to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.

“We enjoyed touring the many sharecrow creations – many of them were even named! We watched as young children made contributions to the food bins, learning about the importance of helping others. A few children even donated some of their Halloween candy. Great stories, memories and friendships were created.”

The Rotary Club appreciates this generous community that answered the call to help the Kincardine Food Bank and the Kincardine Hospital. The club is looking forward to next year's event!

ANOTHER DONATION TO THE FOOD BANK

Meanwhile, the Kincardine Food Bank received a cheque for more than $1,200 plus gift cards from the Bruce Power Pensioners’ Association. This was collected as part of the group’s annual general meeting. The food bank greatly appreciates this donation.
