Kincardine Football Association receives donation from 100 People Who Share
It was a special night for 100 People Who Share Bruce County who gathered Monday night, Oct. 27, at Ainsdale Golf Course for the final meeting of the year.

Following a fantastic roast beef dinner, founder Bill Pike announced that in nine years, the group has raised $250,000 for local charities and non-profits. What an achievement!

After 26 meetings, the organization has distributed $260, 475 to deserving organizations. Thank you to all the members - those who have been with the group since the beginning, and those who have recently joined. The group now has a membership of 104 people.

Cody Hay of Home and Community Support Services of Grey Bruce, spoke about the impact that the July donation of $12,475 made to her cause. The group applauded the work done by this organization, supporting vulnerable people in the community and helping close the financial gap many people are experiencing.

Three organizations were then chosen from the pool of seven nominees: United Way Backpack Program, Pine River Watershed Initiative (PRWIN), and Kincardine Football Association. After listening to informative and heartfelt presentations, members took a break to cast their votes and put in last-minute bids on silent auction items. The group is grateful to the many businesses that donated fantastic items for the auction. All the money raised is added to the winning charity’s final amount.

The October winner was the Kincardine Football Association, represented by David Waite and two team captains. The association is bringing the sport of tackle football back to Kincardine after a 36-year absence! Funds will be used for equipment, training and transportation as students learn the sport and compete against other schools.

The evening ended on a bittersweet note, as Pike announced his retirement. The group is grateful to Bill and Sharon Pike for turning their vision of generosity in the community into 100 People Who Share. Their daughter, Kylie Pike, will continue their legacy, along with committee members Linda Bowers, Melinda Smegal, Brigitte Rauket and Kimberlee Feick Lowry. To celebrate Pike’s retirement, everyone enjoyed a piece of delicious cake made specially for the occasion by Kir’s Kitchen.

The 2026 meeting dates are April 27, July 27 and Oct. 26.
