Kincardine Legion Corner

Kincardine Legion Corner
To begin this week, we need to send out a huge amount of thank-yous. We are extremely grateful to the community for your support of our 2025 Poppy Campaign and the Remembrance Day services, ceremonies, and activities. We won’t even try to name everyone who helped with this — the busiest time of the year for Branch 183 — for fear of leaving anyone out, but know your efforts are deeply appreciated.
The ceremonies and services in Tiverton and at the Kincardine Legion all went very smoothly due to the hard work of so many people, who helped plan, organize, cook, arrange wreaths, sort donations, deliver Poppy boxes, and so much more.

We are thankful to the St. Anthony’s School students (below) who participated in the No Stone Left Alone initiative, paid their respects and thanked deceased veterans for their service, Wednesday at the Kincardine Cemetery.

If you were unable to attend the ceremonies in person, you can check out our Branch 183 Facebook page for some photos and videos from each event.
Lastly, a thank you to the community members who wore a Poppy, made a donation, attended a ceremony, thanked a veteran, and took a few moments to remember the service that so many people gave to ensure our freedoms today. Lest We Forget.

Heather Roppel of Kincardine won $1,710 in the Catch the Ace draw. She chose Envelope No. 14 which revealed the Three of Spades. The Ace of Spades remains hidden and we are projecting a jackpot next week of $37,500. Don’t forget, you can buy your tickets on-line at kincardineace.com. Thanks to our ghost writer last week who gave us some interesting Catch the Ace tidbits and stats that were very interesting!

At the Saturday Meat Draw, we had just one double-dipper, and that was Paul Hervieux. The winner of the 50/50 draw was Cookie Quinn who took home $100. Congratulations, Cookie, don’t spend it all on yarn! Save the date for the next Mega Meat Draw which will be Dec. 13, and the word is that there will be turkeys to be won. There will also be music provided by Greg Pahl’s band - Sweet Light Crude, so plan to attend!

Congratulations to the winning team at the November Trivia Night - Team Les Quizerables. The next Legion Trivia will be Friday, Dec. 12, so wear your Santa hats!

This Saturday is our annual Kincardine Legion Craft Show and Bake Sale, Saturday, Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. We could still use more baked goods as donations to the Bake Sale which can be dropped off at the hall bar Friday afternoon or Saturday morning before 9 a.m.

Here are some Bingo updates. Next week, Thursday, Nov. 20, the food before Bingo will be Penne Pasta with Chicken in Alfredo Sauce. Looking ahead, there will be three Bingos next month – Dec. 4, 11 and 18. At the Dec. 11 Bingo, there will be turkey prizes given away, and at the final Bingo for 2025, Dec. 18, there will be a $1,200 Jackpot. Bingo will resume Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026.

Tickets are now on sale for The Ballaghs, Dec. 14, for $25 each; and New Year’s Eve with the Adam Cousins Band, $50 each for members, $60 each for non-members.

The Veterans Christmas Banquet is Sunday, Dec. 7. Doors open at 2:30 p.m., with dinner at 5 p.m. There is no charge for veterans, spouses, widows and caregivers, and guests are welcome at a cost of $22 each. If you know any veterans, let them know to kindly RSVP by Friday, Nov. 28, to David Carson at 519-386-5314 or by E-mail at sailorkit@gmail.com.
