Ripley Raven girls win Southwest Regional volleyball tournament

The Ripley Raven girls volleyball team won the championship banner at the Southwest Regional tournament, held Jan. 19, at Kincardine District Secondary School.

The Ravens defeated Huron Heights, 25-7, and 25-12, in the first set and then beat Lucknow, 25-18, and were upset in the second set by the same score. The Ravens then won both games against Elgin Market, 25-8, and 25-14, finishing first in the round-robin with a record of five wins and one loss.

Ripley faced Lucknow again in the championship game where the Ravens’ serves were too powerful for Lucknow to handle. Ripley’s accurate passing and setting led the way to winning the championship two games straight, 25-6, and 25-10.

The Ravens move on to the Bluewater finals next week at Sauble Beach.

Ravens On Three …. Way to go Ravens! Congratulations, girls!
