Death Café set for Nov. 26 at Walker House Museum in Kincardine
Huron Shores Hospice is holding a Death Café at the Walker House Museum in Kincardine, Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 2-4 p.m.

A Death Café is a comfortable place to talk about dying and death. It’s not a counselling session, just a friendly and open conversation.

For many of us, talking about death can feel unfamiliar or even a little intimidating. Yet, when we give ourselves permission to explore it, something unexpected often happens — the conversation brings clarity, comfort, and connection. It reminds us that death isn’t separate from life … it’s a meaningful part of it.

That is the intention behind a Death Café — a warm, relaxed gathering where people can gather simply to talk. No structure, no advice, no expectations. Just real conversation over tea and cake.

This is a welcoming space to reflect, ask questions, or simply listen. Whether you’re navigating loss or simply curious about the topic, you’re invited to join. Share only what feels right for you.

By talking about death now, we open doors for better understanding — both for ourselves and the people we love. Discussing wishes and values today can make tomorrow a little gentler.

Trained facilitators will guide the conversation and make sure everyone feels comfortable. You can share as much or as little as you want. You don’t need to be going through grief to join.

Talking about death now can help you share your wishes with your family, so nobody is left guessing when the time comes. It’s not just about the end — it’s about living with more peace, knowing that you’ve talked about what matters to you.

A second Death Café is being held Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Port Elgin Library.
